API World 2026 took place September 1-3, 2026 at the Santa Clara Convention Center, with CloudX and DataWeek on the same badge at the same venue on the same days. This page keeps the tracks, exhibitors, networking schedule and pass pricing as they were announced before the event, for reference or for planning a future trip.
DevNetwork listed 7 tracks, 100-plus speakers, and 50-plus exhibitors including OpenAI, Anthropic-adjacent tooling, AWS, Google Cloud, Kong, Postman, HashiCorp, and Databricks. Passes were priced at $1,405 for PRO and $1,990 for PREMIUM through the July 23 deadline (checked 2026-08-24, apiworld.co/register).
I track API conferences the same way I track AI tool launches. The patterns demoed at API World show up in production API stacks a quarter or two later, and the AI API surface (LLM endpoints, MCP, agent protocols, structured outputs) was the headline theme of the 2026 programme, not the traditional REST-and-GraphQL fare.
What was worth writing about was not the marketing pitch. It was the co-location that most pre-event guides left out and the verified 2026 pricing that most guides got wrong.

The co-location was the actual product
API World 2026 did not run alone. DevNetwork stacked three conferences at the same convention center on the same three days: API World, CloudX, and DataWeek. A single pass for any one of the three admitted the holder to all three, plus the shared expo hall (checked 2026-08-24, apiworld.co).
That tripled the session count one ticket could walk into. For anyone shopping API gateways and cloud platforms at the same time, or comparing AI API vendors against data platform vendors, one $1,405 PRO pass covered what would otherwise be three separate flights and three separate registrations.
DevNetwork also listed a joint hackathon called API + Cloud + Data, scheduled across August 17 to September 3, online and in person, with $12,500-plus in cash prizes.
Verified 2026 pricing, not the DevNetwork template
Most other guides quote a “typical” DevNetwork tier structure with wide $999-$2,500 ranges. The 2026 registration page had real numbers, and they were lower at the OPEN tier and higher at the top.
| Tier | Price through Jul 23 | Walk-up Sep 3 | What it included |
|---|---|---|---|
| OPEN | $195 | higher | Expo, keynotes, OPEN sessions on Sep 2-3 only |
| PRO | $1,405 | $1,875 | All sessions, all three days, PRO workshops |
| PREMIUM | $1,990 | $2,650 | PRO plus VIP party, PREMIUM lounge, VIP lunch |
Prices climbed on a fixed deadline ladder. Checked 2026-08-24 at apiworld.co/register. Discounts stacked: 25% off for groups of 3+, 30% off for verified students, 30% off for verified government employees.
Refunds were not available. Transfers were, and unused credit rolled to a future DevNetwork event of equal or lesser value. The Eventbrite listing was the transfer path.
Who was listed on the expo floor
I do not care about the “typical past program” speaker roster. The 2026 sponsor wall listed specific companies, and that was the better guide to whether the trip would pay back.
Confirmed exhibitors as of 2026-08-24 (apiworld.co/exhibitors): Apigee, Auth0, AWS, Azure, Cloudflare, Databricks, Datadog, Envoy, Google Cloud, HashiCorp, Hugging Face, Kong, MuleSoft, New Relic, Nvidia, OpenAI, Oracle, Postman, Snowflake, and Tyk. That was the API gateway market, the top three cloud vendors, the AI API stack (OpenAI plus Hugging Face plus Nvidia), and the observability layer, all in one hall.
For anyone shipping AI products through public APIs, that expo list was roughly the entire vendor set worth having a conversation with. On paper it put Kong, Tyk and Apigee in one afternoon’s walk, with OpenAI’s function-calling patterns two aisles over.
Networking that was actually scheduled
The published networking events for API World 2026:
- Tuesday Sep 1, 6:30-7:00 PM: API + CloudX Awards Ceremonies (open to all badges)
- Tuesday Sep 1, 7:00-9:00 PM: VIP Networking After Party (PRO and PREMIUM only, plus speakers, sponsors, award winners)
- Wednesday Sep 2, 4:30-6:30 PM: Expo Block Party (free food and drinks, open to all registrants)
- Wednesday Sep 2 and Thursday Sep 3, all day: PREMIUM Lounge (PREMIUM only)
The After Party was where the $585 gap between PRO and PREMIUM stopped being a rounding error. For anyone selling API tooling into engineering buyers, PREMIUM bought room access nobody else had. For anyone attending to learn, PRO was enough.
The seven tracks, compressed
The 2026 program organized 100-plus sessions across seven parallel tracks: API Design and Strategy, AI APIs and LLM Integration, API Security, API Gateway and Platform Engineering, Event-Driven and Async APIs, API Integration and Workflows, and Developer Experience.
The AI APIs track was the differentiator. Sessions covered LLM API integration patterns, model routing across OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, and Bedrock, structured output endpoints, function calling, the Model Context Protocol, and cost optimization at the API layer. That was the track built for attendees shipping AI products.
Every track ran the full three days with multiple sessions per slot. With seven parallel rooms, every slot forced a six-session skip.
Who the event was built for
The event was built for people who design or operate APIs at scale, build with LLM APIs or agent frameworks, own a platform engineering team’s gateway decision, or sell API tooling into Silicon Valley engineering buyers. The vendor concentration on the expo floor plus the co-located CloudX and DataWeek programs made this the highest-density three days on the 2026 US API calendar.
It was a weak fit for academic AI research (wrong crowd), for anyone who only needed vendor-marketing-level API awareness (a $195 OPEN pass and a free CES-style expo pass covered that), or for a pre-revenue startup that had not shipped its first API yet.
The case for attending was the co-location and the specific AI-API vendor conversations, not the marketed 100-speaker keynote scale. That was the reframe most guides missed.
Getting to Santa Clara
Santa Clara Convention Center is at 5001 Great America Parkway, 3 miles from San Jose International (SJC) and 30 miles south of San Francisco International (SFO). Uber from SJC lands you at the venue in 8 to 15 minutes for $10-20. From SFO, driving is 35-50 minutes, or Caltrain from Millbrae takes an hour to 90 minutes total.
The Santa Clara Marriott and the Hyatt Regency are directly adjacent to the venue. Both, plus Avatar, Hilton Santa Clara, and Embassy Suites nearby, run $250-$450 per night in early September.
For deeper context on the DevNetwork event portfolio, see the AI DevSummit 2026 recap and the DeveloperWeek New York 2026 writeup. For where API World fits on the broader calendar, the full AI events index is here.
Registration ran through apiworld.co/register, and the walk-up PRO rate was $470 above the pre-deadline PRO price.
