PriceFree plan: yes, 342 deals at no cost. Premium $149 per year, or $399 once for lifetime. No $39 renewal exists. Checked 13 September 2026.
VerdictStart free: AWS Activate, Notion and HubSpot are already on the free plan. Buy Premium if the 273 locked deals hold something you need, above all the three $1,000 AI model credits (OpenRouter, OpenAI, Anthropic), Stripe or Airtable. Skip it if you want instant coupon codes or cannot pass startup eligibility checks.

This review is built from the public platform, the pricing page, the deal library as listed in April 2026 and rechecked on 13 September 2026, and verification published by other reviewers, including AWS credit balances, an Airtable account showing $0 owed on a $2,100 per year plan, and Stripe deposits with no fees deducted. I have not personally run a full claim cycle through every deal described, and the savings totals quoted on the platform are its own figures rather than independently audited ones. Where something is a vendor or platform claim, it is labelled that way.

What is JoinSecret?

JoinSecret is a SaaS deal membership platform that aggregates startup discounts, credits and extended trials from over 1,000 software companies into one dashboard. It trades as Secret and is built for startups, agencies, solopreneurs and small businesses. On 13 September 2026 it listed 615 deals across design, development, marketing, finance, AI tools, operations and communication, with 342 open to free accounts and 273 behind Premium. New deals are added every week.

It sits in a different category from AppSumo. AppSumo sells discounted licenses to software you might not have used before; Secret gives you deals on tools you’re probably already paying full price for. If you already use Notion, HubSpot and AWS, you could have had three months free on Notion Business, a large discount on HubSpot and AWS Activate credits, all on the free plan. Whether the membership is worth paying for is a separate question, and it turns on whether the 273 Premium deals contain something you need.

How a claim works, from Get Access to an applied credit

JoinSecret is a middleman between you and software vendors running startup acquisition programmes. It does not issue credits and it cannot approve you.

  1. Pick a plan. Your tier decides which deals you can open, and each listing is badged Free or Premium.
  2. Browse the library at joinsecret.com/explore. Filter by category and plan type, and sort by Most Popular or Newest. Each listing states the offer, the plan required and, critically, whether existing customers qualify or the deal is new-signups-only. If you already pay for Airtable, check that flag before assuming you qualify.
  3. Click Get Access. JoinSecret emails you the claim instructions, which differ per deal. Some send a coupon code. Some ask you to email the vendor with your website URL and confirm you are a startup. Larger credits mean applying on the vendor’s own portal, such as the AWS Activate portal, using a referral ID Secret supplies.
  4. Wait for the vendor’s decision. AWS Activate typically takes two to three weeks, Airtable around seven days, Notion can be near-instant once a code is entered. The timeline belongs to the vendor, not JoinSecret.
  5. Receive the credit from the vendor. Once approved you are the vendor’s customer with a credit applied. JoinSecret is out of the transaction at that point.

Most startup credits require you to be a genuine business: a live website, a business email and evidence that you’re building or running something real. Claiming startup status as a solo hobbyist may work initially but can violate the vendor’s terms.

JoinSecret pricing: free, $149 a year or $399 once

JoinSecret pricing plans showing Free and Premium options

The free plan costs nothing. Secret’s own marketplace counter read “615 deals available. Get access to 342 deals for free and 273 deals when you upgrade to Premium” on 13 September 2026, so a bit over half the catalogue is open without paying.

Premium is $149 a year, cancel anytime, and covers all present and future deals on the marketplace, new Premium deals weekly, a private community and 7/7 support. The pricing page says it is trusted by 20,000+ clients.

A correction on the renewal, because earlier versions of this review got it wrong and so does a lot of the coverage elsewhere: there is no $39 renewal. Secret’s pricing page on 13 September 2026 shows three options and nothing else: Free, $149 a year cancel-anytime, and $399 once for lifetime. The $39 figure appears to be $399 misread, and it makes the plan look far cheaper over five years than it is. Budget $149 every year, or $399 once.

The lifetime option has also been discounted and resold. An earlier check of the pricing page showed a 70% discount badge on it, and it has been sold through third-party platforms like Digital Think, with the price depending on where and when you find it. Check the official JoinSecret pricing page for the current offer.

What Premium actually unlocks

This is the part most reviews get backwards, including earlier versions of this one. The headline deals people quote as the reason to pay are mostly not behind the paywall. On the live marketplace, Descript, Lovable, n8n, Notion, AWS Activate, HubSpot and Zendesk all carry the “Get deal for free” button, meaning a free account can claim them. If those are what you came for, you do not need Premium at all.

What $149 buys is the other 273 deals, and for anyone building with AI the three that matter are model credits:

Premium-only dealWhat you get
OpenRouter$1,000 in credits across 300+ LLM models, including Claude, OpenAI and Gemini, through one API
OpenAI via LLM API$1,000 in free credits across OpenAI’s models
Anthropic via OpenRouter$1,000 in credits across Anthropic’s models

Two caveats before you buy on that basis. Credit deals almost always require a new account with the provider rather than topping up an existing one, and eligibility often depends on company stage. And tier assignment changes: Secret moves deals between free and Premium, so check the badge on the deal page itself rather than trusting any review, this one included.

The deals worth claiming, and which plan each needs

Figures checked 13 September 2026. Secret rotates deals, so confirm on the deal page before buying.

AWS Activate: the biggest credit, on the free plan

Deal: up to $100,000 in AWS credits, or 20 to 50% off your monthly spend through an AWS partner if you are already spending. Plan required: none, the marketplace lists this as claimable on the free plan. Works with existing customers: the credit tier depends on company stage and funding, and the spend discount is the route for established accounts.

This is the marquee deal. If you run workloads on AWS or plan to migrate, it is the largest single line item on the platform, and the application runs through the AWS Activate programme with Secret’s referral ID.

Stripe: $500 in credits, Premium only

Deal: $500 in Stripe credits. Plan required: Premium, and this one genuinely is. Works with existing customers: usually, though Stripe sets the terms.

Stripe charges around 2.9% plus $0.30 per transaction. On $20,000 in revenue, that’s roughly $580 in fees.

Airtable: $1,000 in credits for existing customers too

Deal: $1,000 in credits on licences for one year. Plan required: Premium. Works with existing customers: yes.

Airtable’s Plus plan runs $21/user/month, billed annually, so $1,000 in credits covers a single user for four-plus years. One reviewer had $380 in credits remaining after three-plus years of access.

Notion: three months of Business with Unlimited AI

Deal: 3 months free on the Business plan, with Unlimited AI included. Plan required: none, listed as free to claim. Works with existing customers: depends on prior promotions. It is one of the most popular deals on the platform.

Descript, Lovable and n8n: AI tool discounts that need no Premium

  • Descript, the video and podcast editor: 35% off annual plans, up to $240 saved. Worth taking if you were going to buy Descript annually anyway, since it cuts the first-year cost.
  • Lovable, an AI app builder that builds full-stack web apps from natural language prompts, is 15% off annual Pro and Business plans, up to $500 saved.
  • n8n, an open-source workflow automation tool that competes with Zapier and Make, is 50% off the monthly and annual Business plan for a year, which Secret puts at up to $4,800 saved. That is the largest percentage discount in the AI-adjacent part of the catalogue.

Rocket.new and Base44: check the live percentage

Both are AI app builders in the “vibe-coding” category, positioned for founders who want to move fast without writing much code. Rocket.new carries a discount on monthly and annual plans and Base44 on annual plans, but neither deal page rendered a current percentage when checked on 13 September 2026. Earlier versions of this review quoted 30% and 20%; confirm the figure live before counting on it.

Other notable deals

  • HubSpot: 75-90% off for one year
  • Zendesk gives 6 months free on customer support plans
  • Google Workspace: 15% off
  • Shopify runs 3 months at $1 a month
  • Semrush: 14 days free trial
  • Miro offers $1,000 in credits with lifetime validity
  • TikTok Ads: $6,000 in ad credit
  • Intercom gives a year free on the Advanced plan
  • Digital Ocean: $200 in credits for 12 months

Recent additions include TikTok Ads, Crunchbase, Cal.com and Open Art.

Is JoinSecret legit?

Yes. The deals come directly from the source companies through established startup programmes like AWS Activate; JoinSecret provides the referral ID and instructions, and you apply directly. The value sounds unrealistic ($149 a year to reach $50,000+ worth of software credits), but it follows from whose interest is being served. AWS wants you building on its infrastructure, Notion wants you dependent on its workspace, HubSpot wants you in its CRM. Credits are customer acquisition spend, not charity, and Secret takes a membership fee for aggregating programmes you could technically find and apply to yourself.

Other reviewers have published proof:

  • One showed an AWS account with $6,481 in credits actively being used to host websites.
  • Another showed an Airtable billing section on a $2,100/year Plus plan showing $0 owed, with $380 in credits remaining.
  • A third showed a Wells Fargo bank account with four Stripe deposits totaling several thousand dollars with zero processing fees deducted.

The deals work. They’re just not magic instant codes you paste into a checkout box. They require legitimate startup credentials, real business email addresses, and in some cases a real application process.

Worked example of the maths. A bootstrapped SaaS business paying $340 a month for AWS hosting applies for AWS Activate through the referral and waits out the two-to-three-week approval. A $5,000 credit at that burn rate covers roughly 14 months of hosting. On the 13 September 2026 listing that deal sits on the free plan, so the saving needs no membership at all, and Premium has to earn its $149 on the locked deals.

One name worth untangling

A surprising share of the searches that land here are for joinsecretservice.com, which is not a rival deals site or a scam clone. It is the United States Secret Service careers portal, with no connection to the software marketplace whatsoever.

The deals platform is joinsecret.com, which trades simply as Secret. If you are checking whether “JoinSecret” is legitimate and your search turns up federal law enforcement recruitment, you have the wrong domain rather than a red flag.

JoinSecret vs AppSumo, AWS Activate direct and Dealify

The comparison people reach for, JoinSecret versus AppSumo, is the wrong one. AppSumo sells lifetime licences to new or indie tools: you pay once and own the licence, and the risk is that the company behind it shuts down, pivots or stops updating it. Secret discounts established infrastructure you are already committed to, such as AWS, Notion, HubSpot and Stripe, companies that are not going to fold. Both can sit in the same toolkit. If you are choosing only one and run a real business with real software costs, JoinSecret delivers more immediate ROI because it targets your existing spend.

Who JoinSecret suits, and who it will frustrate

It suits:

  • Founders running a real business with a live website and business email. That is the eligibility bar on most premium credits.
  • Companies already paying full price for mainstream SaaS, where one Airtable credit claim covers several years of membership.
  • Businesses about to build on AWS. The Activate credit is the biggest line item on the platform.
  • AI builders who will use the three $1,000 model credits, which are the clearest reason to pay for Premium.
  • Long-term operators, where $399 once for lifetime access removes the renewal question entirely.

It will frustrate:

  • Hobbyists without a business entity or live site. Most of the valuable credits will be declined, and claiming startup status you do not have breaches vendor terms.
  • Anyone wanting instant coupon codes. This is an application process, not a checkout discount.
  • Businesses whose stack is not in the library. The headline deal count means nothing if none of it matches your spend.

Where JoinSecret falls short

  • Nothing is instant. AWS credits take two to three weeks, Airtable about a week. If you need the saving now, this is the wrong mechanism, so plan ahead.
  • Approval is entirely the vendor’s call. JoinSecret curates and refers, and it cannot overturn a rejection from AWS or Airtable. A membership fee buys access, not outcomes.
  • The best credits are new-customer only. AWS Activate requires an account or company not already on AWS, which excludes exactly the businesses with the largest bills. If you already claimed a vendor’s startup programme, you generally cannot stack or reapply.
  • Startup eligibility gates a lot of the value. If your business does not read as early-stage, the applicable deal count drops well below the headline.
  • Every deal has a different process. Some send a code, others require you to fill out a 40-page application, and instruction quality varies deal to deal.
  • The savings figures are the platform’s own. “$6.18 billion saved”, “235,399 businesses” and an average of “$48,000 in annual savings” are self-reported marketing numbers, not audited figures, and the average is skewed by whoever claimed the largest cloud credits.
  • Deal inventory shifts. Listings are added weekly and can also be withdrawn or moved between tiers, so a specific deal you joined for may not be there when you get around to claiming it.

Is JoinSecret Premium worth $149 a year?

For a real business paying full price for mainstream SaaS, yes, but the free plan does more of the work than the pricing page suggests. AWS Activate, Notion, HubSpot and Zendesk are free to claim, so Premium has to pay for itself on what is locked: the three $1,000 model credits, Stripe’s $500 and Airtable’s $1,000. Any one of those covers the $149 several times over. If none of them applies to you, the membership buys nothing you need.

What JoinSecret sells is convenience and aggregation: deals that technically exist elsewhere but would take you hours of individual research to find and apply to. It is not a promo code site, and if you are not willing to follow a process and wait for approval, the platform will frustrate you.

The same maths at agency scale. A stack of HubSpot, Notion, AWS and Typeform at around $1,200 a month is the profile this platform is built for. Claiming four applicable deals in one afternoon, then waiting out the approval windows, is realistically a few hundred dollars a month off that bill within six weeks. The $149 fee is recovered on the first approved credit, and $399 once caps it permanently.

My verdict: Buy it if you’re a business owner. Skip it if you’re a hobbyist. If you are not sure whether you qualify as a startup, start with the free plan, browse the library and count how many deals apply to tools you already use. If the answer is three or more, upgrade to Premium.

Promo codes and existing customers

What is the JoinSecret promo code?

Codes circulate from time to time through affiliate reviewers and partner promotions, and past codes have offered 20-30% off the Premium or Unlimited plan. Check the joinsecret.com pricing page for any currently active discount; some YouTube reviewers and affiliates also share codes in their video descriptions.

Does JoinSecret work with existing customers?

Some deals do and others are new-customer only, and each listing says which. Airtable and Stripe have made certain credits available to existing users; the largest cloud credits, AWS Activate included, are generally for accounts not already on the platform.
